"I have experienced numerous field trips during my thirty-five years of teaching and this educational experience ranks at the very top!

Each lesson was presented in a manner that required students to use critical thinking skills as well as observational techniques. The fact that the student activities mirrored those of professionals in the field made it truly a 'real world' learning situation."

Apply NOW for Spring River REACH Programs!

The River REACH program stands for River Research, Education, and Adventure CHarters. The River REACH floating classroom program connects students to the Ohio River through hands-on voyages of discovery aboard Queen City Riverboats! While on-board, students test water quality using the same methods and equipment as scientists who monitor and protect our river. They also collect and identify aquatic organisms that are used to determine the health of one of America's most important resources.

The program delivers a one-of-a-kind educational experience while fostering an emotional connection to the river. Students see firsthand how they depend on the river and discover beauty and wildlife in the most unexpected places! The overall experience gives students a sense of place in their watershed and an understanding of the challenges that need to be addressed in protecting a resource that literally runs through the lives of millions of people.

FORE is currently accepting applications for Spring 2012 programs. Click HERE for more program and application information

What's New
Upcoming Community Events
The Greater Cincinnati Foundation supports River REACH!
FORE recently received $15,000 from The Greater Cincinnati Foundation (GCF) and the Robert J. and Patricia Erman fund of GCF to support our high school River REACH program! GCF's support will allow eight local schools and their teachers to experience our STEM-based, award-winning curriculum in the next school year!

Enviroscape Parnterships Enhance River REACH Programs!
FORE recently partnered with Hamilton County Soil and Water Conservation District and SD1 to bring Enviroscape presentations to elementary and middle school classes participating in the River REACH program. These exciting, interactive presentations allow students to learn about watersheds and stormwater runoff by playing the role of contracters, farmers, homeowners and developers whose practices may contribute to non-point pollution in their communities. The activities are an excellent primer for the concepts students learn during their cruise on the Ohio River!

River Companies Support FORE!
This spring, FORE received support from Kinder Morgan, Cincinnati Bulk Terminals, and the Crounse Corporation to support our River REACH programs! Their combined support will allow FORE to reach over 160 students and teachers through our floating classroom program! Queen City Riverboats, who provides the riverboat for each of our floating classroom trips, is also donating $100 of the cost of each cruise to FORE!
